Big Data: The New Oil?

Dr. Steven Way, Program Coordinator, Analytics for Business Decision Making. Professor, McKeil School of Business. Co-owner of Atec Marketing Ltd.
Steven is a lifelong entrepreneur, business owner, and consultant who has worked in the multimedia, sports manufacturing, information technology, and business consulting industries. He possesses an MBA in Management of Innovation and New Technology, and received his doctorate in Information Systems from the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University.
In 2015, Dr. Way joined the McKeil School of Business as a full-time faculty member teaching in the Business Analysis program. He is now the Program Coordinator for Mohawk College's Analytics for Business Decision Making program which launched in 2018. He has also founded the Higher Education Analytics Data (HEAD) Competition, a competition open to students from both colleges and universities, which Mohawk College will host for the second time in March 2020.
Lastly, he has founded the Analytics Lab at Mohawk College which is designed as a resource for both analytics students and community stakeholders looking to tackle applied research analytics problems.
Topic Summary
We can expect machine learning Big Data to develop further in the near future. Combined with data analytics, expect it to create predictive models to forecast the future with an even higher level of accuracy. Flyer for the event can be downloaded here.
