Program Outlines

Avid Media Composer Certification (5 Days)

(Two courses offered for film and television editors, producers, anyone involved in video post-production and multimedia content creators/editors)

Media Composer Editing Essentials - MC101 (2 Days)

This introductory course is designed to get a new user up and running on the software. In this course, students develop an understanding of the video
editing process and the basic skills to edit a video project from start to finish.

Participants must have:

  • A working knowledge of Windows or Macintosh operating systems
  • A background or experience in editing, production, or post-production is recommended but not required

Media Composer Effects Essentials - MC110 (3 Days)

This intermediate course is designed to teach students the technical and organization skills of an assistant editor and develop their editorial skills with the tools and techniques required to produce a well-edited video. To earn certification, participants must have passed the Media Composer Editing Essentials Course (MC101) and pass the associated certification examination.

Avid Media Composer Certification (5 Days)

(Two courses offered for musicians, audio engineers, sound editors for film or television and multimedia content creators/editors)

Pro Tools Fundamentals I - PT 101 (3 Days)

This course introduces fundamental Pro Tools concepts so that students are able to create a complete, basic Pro Tools project; from setting up a session to a final mix. A working knowledge of basic digital audio is recommended but not required. The course does not require prior experience using Pro Tools. Experience using a Digital Audio Workstation, however, is highly beneficial.

Pro Tools Fundamentals II - PT 110 (2 Days)

This course expands on the basic principles taught in the Pro Tools Fundamentals I (PT101) course. Students cover more advanced concepts of digital audio editing, recording, mixing, MIDI, and real-time signal processing in a Pro Tools environment. To become an Avid Certified User for Pro Tools through this program, you must do the following:

  • Take the Pro Tools Fundamentals I and Pro Tools Fundamentals II courses
  • Complete and pass the associated certification examination with the courses above
